David’s father, Paul Rudduck, was an excellent businessman and Entrepreneur. After leaving the family pet products business, Rudduck’s, Paul went on to publish pet books and invest in a number of successful ventures. Early on, Paul could see the immense future that was technology and personal computing and encouraged his Son David to learn about electronics, science and technology.
Sadly, at the age of 9, David’s father passed away from a rare form of stomach cancer.
It was David’s fathers wish for David to learn about computers so that he would be able to take advantage of the opportunities this phenomenal advancement in technology would bring to the business world.
As a result of his early nurturing in the field from his father, David excelled at computing during high school and TAFE. But despite all this, David could not obtain employment in the field. Try as he may, his application for employment with even simple computer stores was overlooked.
Finally after years of applying for work in the field of computing, David was offered a contract position for a small superannuation administration company in Southport.
It was at this point that David realised that if he wanted to be the master of his own destiny, he needed to take charge and build his own business.
At the age of 22, David started his first business, Insane Technologies. His goal was simple – provide small businesses with cost effective IT consultancy, management and support, so they could compete with their larger counterparts.
Due to David’s good nature and strong ethics, he picked up clients quickly, and before he knew it, he was consulting for Village Roadshow Theme Parks (then Warner Bros Theme Parks), one of the largest organisations on the Gold Coast, and sitting in on high level discussions regarding the implementation of a network security system for the film studio (Village Roadshow Studios).
Acknowledging the struggle he had gone through to find employment, David developed his own hiring techniques which focussed on uncovering truly exceptional people. As a result of these techniques, David has been able to hire some of the most talented people in the field, some of which were completely overlooked by other firms.
David has continued to expand his businesses with the introduction of MyCloudHost.com.au, a hosting service platform which falls under Insane Technologies, and Gold Coast University Accommodation, a student “room-for-rent” business which David, his Mother, Brother and Sister operate.
